anatolian religion
The polytheistic Hittites believed in Anatolian gods and religious practices. Other civilizations that followed Anatolian religion include the Hurrians and the Hattians. Some of the gods they believed in including the sun goddess Arinnitti, the weather god Taru, and the goddess of the city of Carchemish, Kubaba. They also believed that their royalty was somehow connected to the gods or could speak for the gods.
arinnitti
Arinnitti, goddess of the sun, is the main deity the Hittites worshipped. She is known for her righteousness, her mercy, and her authority over the Hittites. She is best known for being the protectress of the Hittite queen Puduhepa.
taru
Taru (also known as Tarhun), second-in-command to Arinnitti, is the ancient Anatolian god of weather. He is often depicted with a three-pronged thunderbolt in one hand and an ax or other variation of battle weapon in the other. He is symbolized either as a bull or riding one.
kubaba
More of a minor goddess, Kubaba was thought of as the protectress of the city of Carchemish, in Syria. Although she did not play a main part in the Hittites' beliefs, after the downfall of the empire, kingdoms that came after worshipped her more avidly. She is usually depicted as wearing a long robe and holding a mirror, and in most cases, seated.
